The Microsoft Business Applications community has a serious problem. Our requirements specifications are fairytales, our technical designs are flawed, and our project plans are an illusion. We’re wasting money. We’re delivering late. We’re making ourselves miserable. Here’s how we fix it.

Traditional, sequential project methodologies (such as SureStep) are based on the assumption that we can know all the requirements, design the system components, and plan all the project tasks before building any working software. We spend significant effort getting to the start of the Development phase, and we’ve got nothing to show for it except some documentation your stakeholders never read. Story mapping is an agile technique for quickly visualising the scope, cost and timeline of your project so you can spend more time building software and less time talking about building software. In this workshop, Neil will teach you the story mapping process for your project with real examples from from Dynamics 365 and Power Platform projects (illustrated with LEGO minifigures, of course!). At the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to apply story mapping to your next Business Applications project to determine the scope, cost and timeline in hours instead of months. You’ll also walk away with a custom LEGO minifigure that looks like you.
